Dental Crowns Preston

Dental crowns are caps that fit over damaged or weakened teeth, adding strength and protection from further damage.

A dental crown (cap) can restore natural tooth form, provide a strong bite and a confident smile. The dentist will prepare the tooth by removing the damaged parts and reshaping it to be ready to receive the new crown.

 

A dental crown strengthens a tooth with a healthy base by reinforcing the outer part of the tooth.

 

Crowns are custom made to fit your tooth and we work alongside our chosen dental technicians to give you great quality.  Crowns can be made from a number of materials which include, metal only, metal fused to porcelain and ceramic such porcelain, zirconia and emax.  The type chosen will be dependent on a number of factors such as tooth location, the strength required and colour. A temporary crown is fitted while your permanent crown is being prepared.

 

What are the benefits of a crown?

Crowns are reliable and very versatile. They have been used for many years and can provide many benefits to improve form, function and appearance. They can improve the appearance of a tooth to make the more natural and cosmetic. They are strong and do not chip and stain easily.

 

How long does a crown last?

With regular care, dental crowns can last many years, we normally expect around 10 years although it can last much longer and is largely dependent on how well you look after maintenance and care.

 

Can I replace an existing crown?

If you are unhappy with an existing crown, contact us for an appointment. Crowns can become defective over time, we often replace crowns to improve the fit and appearance.
